Stuck and Need Towing Help? Find Tips Here

When your car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, it can be a frightening and frustrating experience. If you don't have anyone to call when you need help, it can frustrate you even more. A few months ago, my truck quit on the way to work. Since I work and live in a rural area, finding someone to give me a lift to the city isn't always easy. Luckily, my employer sent a tow truck driver to help me out. The driver towed my car to a shop in town to get it repaired. The driver also offered a few tips on how to stay safe in a rural area. If you need advice or information about towing, read my blog. I show you how to keep cool under tough situations and what to do when you need towing help. Thanks for visiting.

Reasons Every Driver Should Keep Emergency Blankets In Their Vehicle

Kylie Torres

You may fully trust your vehicle, but when it comes down to the facts, your car is just a machine and does have the potential to fail at any given moment. Because of this, it is always best to be the most prepared driver you can be. You never know when your vehicle could leave you stranded, waiting on a towing service like Jim's Tow Service, possibly in a strange or scary place or situation. Creating an emergency kit to keep in your trunk is an excellent idea, but there is one handy item you should always ensure you have on hand: emergency blankets. Here are a few reasons why emergency survival blankets should always be tucked away in your vehicle.

Stay warm in frigid temperatures if your heat system fails or you run out of fuel.

You take off on a road trip in the middle of winter, the temperatures are cold, but there is no sign of snow or ice. Halfway through the trip, the sky opens up and drops an obscene amount of snow, you get stuck, and you run out of gas while waiting on a towing service. Unfortunately, this kind of scenario really does happen, so having an emergency blanket on hand will sure be a great help if it happens to you. These blankets may appear thin, but they are designed to hold in your body heat to prevent you from getting too cold.

Stay visible in low-light conditions with a reflective emergency blanket.

If you break down on the side of a busy highway after dark, it is no secret that staying visible is absolutely critical, which is why you should keep your headlights or emergency flashers on while you wait for help. However, if your battery dies, you could be left like a sitting duck in an area where your vehicle is at super high risk for being struck. Pull out an emergency blanket (which is usually silvery and reflective) and tie one end to something on your car's exterior, like an antenna, so oncoming traffic will still be able to see you.

Protect yourself from the heat in the summer.

Being stuck in a car with the bright sunlight shining directly through the windows can make you feel like you are in an oven, which is incredibly dangerous. If you find yourself broken down in the heat of summer, you can use a reflective emergency blanket as a sunshade for your windshield by stretching it across with the reflective side out toward the sun.
